Our History
Harrison Township, located in central Montgomery County, Ohio, was founded in 1841 and named after President William Henry Harrison. With a population of nearly 22,000, the township began as a farming community established by church congregations and grew along the Stillwater River, where its mills played a key role in local industry.
By the mid-20th century, Harrison Township embraced the vibrant culture of the 1950s with drive-ins, diners, and lively community life. The establishment of I-75 helped transform the township into a strong manufacturing and commercial hub, showcasing the grit and determination of its residents.
In 2019, the Memorial Day tornado caused significant damage, but the community came together to rebuild and persevere. Today, Harrison Township honors its rich history while charting a new course focused on growth, resilience, and opportunity.
