Planning & Zoning
Permitting
Zoning Administration issues zoning certificates and is the start of the permitting process in Harrison Township. To get permits for new business, modifications to buildings or properties, or to build a new structure, including a shed you first need a Zoning Permit. Applying for a zoning permit can be done by downloading a form and submitting it via email, mail or in person to the Development Department. Please call us at 937-890-5611 to make a payment.
We work together with the Fire Department, Services Department, and Montgomery County to assist with the rest of the permitting process.

Temporary Moratorium on New Auto-Oriented Uses
The Harrison Township Board of Trustees approved a temporary moratorium on new auto-oriented businesses in the township.
This pause allows our Development Department and Zoning Commission to carefully review and update the rules so we can balance economic growth with protecting the character, safety, and long-term vision of Harrison Township.
• Auto sales (new & used)
• Auto repair (light & heavy)
• Auto rentals
• Boat/RV sales, service & storage
No new permits for these uses will be processed through March 2, 2027
We want to take the time to modernize our zoning regulations to better address traffic, environmental concerns, design standards, and compatibility with nearby neighborhoods — especially along our busy corridors.
