Street Maintenance
Keeping Township Roads Clear, Safe & Moving
Harrison Township’s Services Department is responsible for maintaining neighborhood streets year-round—from road repairs and leaf collection to snow plowing and debris removal. No matter the condition, we’re out there making sure local roads stay safe and accessible.
We also work closely with our regional partners. The Montgomery County Engineer’s Office maintains major roadways running through the township, and ODOT is responsible for highways like I-75. If you’re unsure who to contact, start with us — we’re here to help get it handled.

Street Maintenance
The Services Department maintains 91 miles of roadway, covering 340 mostly residential streets. Major thoroughfares passing through the township are maintained by the Montgomery County Engineer’s Office or the Ohio Department of Transportation.
Our aggressive asphalt resurfacing program keeps streets in excellent condition. Since 1981, Harrison Township has invested millions of dollars to resurface hundreds of miles of road, applying hundreds of thousands of tons of asphalt. Additionally, millions have been spent sealing miles of roadway to prevent deterioration.

Storm Drain Maintenance
Harrison Township is responsible for maintaining storm drain infrastructure on township-maintained streets. This includes repairing failing storm drainage systems, storm tile, and inlets, as well as cleaning out catch basins—as long as the issue is within the public right-of-way. Montgomery County is responsible for storm infrastructure on county-maintained roadways.
These services help prevent flooding, protect property, and keep our neighborhoods safe. If you’re unsure who maintains your road or need to report an issue, contact our Services Department for help.

Leaf Collection
Each zone (1–6) will be collected twice during the leaf collection season. To find your zone, please refer to the map below.
When raking leaves, please pile them at the curb by 7:30 a.m. on Monday of your scheduled week. Avoid piling leaves near parked vehicles, trees, poles, culverts, or ditches. Do not mix brush, tree limbs, garbage, grass clippings, or animal waste with your leaf piles.
If you prefer to bag your leaves for curbside pickup, contact the Services Department to arrange collection. You can also place bagged leaves in your Rumpke trash containers or purchase overage bags for $4 each at the Harrison Township Government Center, located at 5945 North Dixie Drive, Dayton, OH 45414.
For questions about leaf collection, call the Services Department at (937) 274-6871.
If you’re unsure of your zone, check the street directory for an alphabetical listing of Harrison Township streets.

Snow Removal
Since the township is responsible for snow removal on residential streets, the Services Department stays prepared throughout the winter months to handle all snow conditions. In a typical season, the department uses about 1,500 tons of salt.
The township is divided into four snow removal zones: Northridge, Upper Shiloh, Lower Shiloh, and Fort McKinley. Each zone has an assigned crew and truck, supported by a fleet of four 4-wheel-drive pickups equipped with snowplows.
Please wait until township crews have cleared your street before shoveling to avoid having to clear your driveway apron twice. When shoveling, pile snow to the right side as you approach the street. This helps reduce the amount of snow pushed back onto your driveway when plows clear the road and drainage areas.
